Wallenius Wilhelmsen Gains Second Consecutive Gold Rating from EcoVadis
Wallenius Wilhelmsen has also been named as ‘Carbon Management Leader’ in 2025. Companies are assessed on their carbon management practices as part of the evaluation and then ranked – Insufficient, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Leader.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen, a market leader in RoRo shipping and vehicle logistics, has been awarded a Gold Medal rating from EcoVadis, a platform that helps companies manage ESG risk and compliance, and meet corporate sustainability goals. This is the second consecutive year for Wallenius Wilhelmsen to gain this award.
Anette Ronnov, Chief Sustainability Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, said this rating is an important validation of the company’s management systems and reassures customers that it is managing risks well. “While we began our journey with EcoVadis at the request of customers and investors, we’ve learned that participating in EcoVadis also helps us measure how well we have integrated the principles of sustainability into our policies and management systems.”

Meeting High Standards
Jonathan Spampinato, Senior Manager Sustainability at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, attributed this recognition to the company’s transition plans, which took lots of solid planning and work by their Orcelle Accelerator team and the operations.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen stated that the EcoVadis Gold rating gives its customers and partners confidence that their outbound logistics partner is managing environmental, ethical, and regulatory risks responsibly. “Because EcoVadis evaluates the maturity of our management systems, and not just annual performance, Gold status two years in a row shows that we consistently meet high standards in areas that matter for supply chain resilience.”
The shipping company highlighted that its supports the customers’ ESG commitments and reporting obligations, with increasing requirements like the European Union’s CSRD and US climate disclosure rules, having a Gold-rated supplier provides credible, third-party data and alignment with sustainability goals, from carbon reduction to responsible sourcing.
