Crime/Kidnapping

Narrative:
A Gabon-flagged fishing vessel was attacked by three armed individuals on board a small boat 7NM southwest of Cocobeach, Gabon. The three individuals approached the vessel at approximately 01:00 UTC. Nine crew members were kidnapped as a result of the attack, five of whom were Chinese nationals and four of whom were Indonesian nationals. Subsequent to the kidnapping, the Gabonese National Navy dispatched naval forces to escort the vessel and the remaining six crew members on board the vessel to safety at Owendo Port, Gabon. No merchant vessel disruption was reported as a result of the attack. At the time of writing, no fatalities had been reported and operations were underway to locate the attackers.
