Priority Alert – Indian Ocean Region
War risk/Sighting
Details
Narrative:
Ambrey received reports from Iranian semi-official news agencies indicating that Iranian authorities had closed the Strait of Hormuz to all maritime traffic. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy stated, “the Strait of Hormuz is closed and vessels should not approach the Strait of Hormuz; otherwise their security will be at risk.” Reportedly, the closure was in response to continued strikes on southern Lebanon by Israeli forces, in violation of clause 1 of the US-Iran MOU. ADVICE: Merchant vessels seeking to transit via the US corridor are advised to liaise with US forces. Ambrey advises merchant vessels to monitor VHF Channel 16 when operating in the Arabian Gulf and while approaching the Strait of Hormuz.
