Priority Alert – Europe and the Mediterranean
War risk/Physical damage
Details
Narrative:
Russian forces conducted an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) attack on the Black Sea Shipyard in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. Air raid sirens were triggered at 23:30UTC, with local residents reporting multiple explosions in the area. Ukrainian-aligned sources reported the deployment of 143 UAVs, of which 95 were intercepted. According to the Governor of Mykolaiv Oblast, a fire broke out in the area as a result of the strike. Ambrey geolocated the targeted area approximately 200m from the Black Sea Shipyard, which, according to Russian-affiliated media, is a manufacturing site for Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicles. The machining and hull-building shops were reportedly damaged. At the time of writing, no damage to merchant shipping or port infrastructure was reported. Based on AIS data, no merchant vessels were observed in the area at the time of the incident. However, Ambrey is aware that merchant vessels have been withholding their AIS signals when calling at Ukrainian ports and transiting its waters. ADVICE: Vessels conducting Black Sea port calls are advised to conduct comprehensive dynamic voyage threat assessments. The crew is advised to remain within the designated Safe Muster Point (SMP) during UAV attacks on infrastructure. The SMP should be located above the waterline, amidships, and low-down in the superstructure.
