Details
Narrative:
The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) has launched operation “Prachuap Khiri Khan-Prachantakhirikhet”, in the Gulf of Thailand. The operation’s stated intention is to “maximally limit the combat capabilities” of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. The Chiefs of Staff of the RTN have indicated the creation of a naval blockade of the Gulf of Thailand “to restrict and reduce Cambodia’s capacity and capabilities to threaten Thailand.” the RTN has designated waters surrounding Cambodian ports as high-risk maritime zones. The blockade currently affects vessels sailing under the Thai flag that are transporting oil or military equipment to Cambodian ports. At present, vessels under non-Thai flags delivering oil or military equipment to Cambodian ports remain unaffected.
ADVICE: Vessels transiting the Gulf of Thailand should exercise heightened caution, maintain continuous monitoring of naval traffic, adhere to established shipping routes, and report any unusual or suspicious activity to local maritime authorities.
