1. Baltic States Seek to Fight Back Against Russian Signal Jamming. NATO’s easternmost member states are grappling with a sharp rise in radio and satellite interference, with Baltic governments accusing Russia of positioning equipment for electronic warfare close to their borders. Since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Baltic Sea region has registered widespread signal jamming, including of the Global Positioning System or GPS, which has affected air and maritime communications.

2. Financial Dispute Takes Rose Cay Maritime Jones Act ATB Fleet Out of Action. A financial dispute among owners and managers has taken Rose Cay Maritime’s fleet of Jones Act articulated tug/barge combinations and tank barges out of service. One ATB unit has been arrested by Panama authorities and is currently being held at anchor there. Other units have been docked at various locations and are being decrewed.

3. Orsted Shares Sink to Record Lows as Trump Admin Halts Wind Farm Off Rhode Island. Shares in Orsted plunged 17% on Monday after the U.S. halted the Danish company’s Revolution Wind project off Rhode Island amid President Donald Trump’s pushback on renewable energy investments.

4. World’s First Commercial CO2 Storage Facility Now Operational in North Sea. The world’s first third-party CO2 transport and storage facility is now operational, marking a significant milestone in Europe’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Northern Lights project has successfully injected and stored its first volumes of carbon dioxide 2,600 meters beneath the North Sea seabed.

5. Capital Clean Energy Carriers seals boxship sale and gas carrier financing. Evangelos Marinakis-backed Capital Clean Energy Carriers (CCEC) has agreed the sale of one of its three neo-panamax containerships and lined up financing for its medium gas carrier (MGC) newbuilding programme.The Nasdaq-listed Greek owner has struck a deal to sell the 2022-built 13,312 teu Manzanillo Express to an undisclosed buyer. Delivery is expected in the third quarter of 2025. The deal will generate an estimated book gain of $6.9m, with proceeds earmarked for debt reduction and general corporate use.

6. Euroseas adds to 4,300 teu newbuild series. Greek containership owner Euroseas has returned to Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding in China for two additional 4,300 teu newbuilds.The Nasdaq-listed company said the vessels, priced at about $59.25m apiece, are due for delivery in March and May 2028. Financing will be arranged through a mix of debt and equity.

7. Northern Lights marks first CO2 storage offshore Norway. Northern Lights JV has achieved a key milestone, injecting the first volumes of carbon dioxide into its offshore storage site in the Norwegian North Sea.

The CO₂ was transported through a 100-km pipeline and injected into the Aurora reservoir, 2,600 m below the seabed. “Our ships, facilities and wells are now in operation,” said managing director Tim Heijn.

8. Al Seer Marine brings AI into the boardroom. Abu Dhabi’s Al Seer Marine has become the first UAE maritime company to introduce an AI-powered board observer, part of a wider digital transformation drive across the business.The system, named NOVA (Neural Oversight & Virtual Automation), acts as a non-voting observer that is intended to bolster boardroom discussions through live queries, scenario modelling, budgeting support and oversight of subsidiaries and joint ventures, the ADX-listed company explained.

9. LNG bunker vessel orders outpace LNG carrier contracts in 2025. Analysts attribute this to the limited number of LNG export projects reaching final investment decision over the past year, which has curbed demand for new LNG carrier projects. Market sources also note that vessel deliveries are outpacing new LNG production, pressuring the charter market and further restraining new orders.

10. Pioneer Bulk pushes large bulker buying spree past US$200M in two years. The company’s latest addition is 2019-built, 208,572-dwt Port Ellen, formerly known as Mineral Hiroshige. Built at Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding, the vessel reportedly changed hands in late June for about US$64M. Port Ellen has already been added to Pioneer Bulk’s published fleet list.
