1. Mercy Ships partners with Angel Studios for exclusive launch of Award-Winning Reality Series “THE MERCY SHIPS”. Mercy Ships, the global nonprofit organization delivering healthcare to low- and middle-income countries via hospital ships, announces that the award-winning reality series The Mercy Ships premiered on June 18, exclusively on Angel.com and the Angel apps. The series chronicles the mission of the world’s largest civilian-run hospital ships as they deliver free surgeries and healthcare services to coastal African communities. The first three episodes will stream free of charge and feature volunteers from throughout the United States.

2. EuroHoldings announces agreement between its majority shareholders and Marla Investments for 51.04% of the company’s outstanding common shares. EuroHoldings  an owner and operator of ocean-going vessels and provider of seaborne transportation, announced today that certain shareholders, all associated with the Pittas family , have entered into a Stock Purchase Agreement  and sold 51.04% of the Company’s outstanding common shares to Marla Investments a company affiliated with the Latsis family.

3. Global maritime healthcare specialist VIKAND backs industry efforts to improve diversity and tackle harassment, in the run up to Day of the Seafarer. VIKAND has pledged its support to Day of the Seafarer and the International Maritime Organization’s 2025 campaign theme: My Harassment-Free Ship.

The campaign aims to address the major issue of harassment faced by seafarers, highlighting that over 50% of female seafarers and many male seafarers have experienced bullying and harassment at sea.

4. South Korea Government to support small shipbuilders’ direct entry into U.S. MRO Market. The government is set to develop strategies to support small and medium-sized shipbuilders’ entry into the maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) market for commercial vessels and warships. The plan aims to strengthen Korea-U.S. shipbuilding cooperation and expand workload for smaller shipbuilders by enabling them to directly enter the U.S. MRO market, alongside large shipbuilding companies.

5. Edison Chouest Offshore to build boxships with HD Hyundai. HD Hyundai has entered into a strategic partnership with an American shipbuilder.

South Korea’s largest shipbuilder will work with Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) to get mid-sized LNG dual-fuel containerships built in the US by 2028. ECO operates five shipyards across the US and is best known for its production of offshore support vessels.

6. West Africa Gas inks VLAC orders in South Korea. West Africa Gas is expanding its fleet with a pair of very large ammonia carrier (VLAC) newbuilds in South Korea.The joint venture between Nigeria’s state oil company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Sahara Group has contracted 93,000 cu m vessels at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries with delivery from the flagship Ulsan yard scheduled for the second half of 2028, according to Clarksons.

7. ClarkSea Index hits year-high ahead of American strikes on Iran. The cross-sector ClarkSea Index, a weighted average of tanker, bulk carrier, containership and gas carrier earnings managed by Clarksons Research, hit a new high for 2025 on Friday, ahead of the decision by the US to strike Iran, something that will likely see the index, seen as a key shipping barometer, climb higher this week.

8. Famous VLCC sold for ninth Time. The 300,000 dwt Alter Ego—a vessel with a storied past—has changed hands for the ninth time in its 19-year lifespan.Greek outfit Cavalli Marine, known for its preference for vintage tonnage, reportedly sold the Chinese-built tanker to Chinese buyers for around $42m, netting an estimated $3m profit, excluding any gains from chartering.
