1. A historic address by the Union of Greek Shipowners’ President, Melina Travlos on Maritime Security, at the United Nations. 2. Riga will host major container logistics conference for the first time. The North Container Summit 2025, a major conference for the container logistics industry, will take place in Riga for the first time. 5. Containership MSC ELSA 3 Sinks Off Indian Coast, All 24 Crew Rescued. The Liberian-flagged containership MSC ELSA 3 sank off the coast of Kochi, India, following a severe list that developed approximately 38 nautical miles southwest of the port. The incident began when the vessel, which departed Vizhinjam Port on May 23, reported a 26-degree list while en route to Kochi.

9. Boxport congestion spreads from Europe to the US and China. Port congestion seen across key Northern European hubs is intensifying and is now spreading to China and the US, a situation expected to worsen as a result of Donald Trump’s on/off tariff strategy. 10. Panama tries to crack down on shadow fleet. Effective immediately, all Panama-flagged vessels with a gross tonnage of 150 or more must notify the flag sate at least 48 hours in advance of any planned STS operation, providing detailed technical, logistical, and operational information. In addition, vessels must update their STS operational plans to reflect this new notification requirement and retain onboard an electronic acknowledgment of receipt.
