3. Chinese yard to build 200-person accommodation rig. Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry has revealed that it entered into a section fabrication, general assembly, equipment installation, and commissioning contract for a 200-person jackup accommodation rig with Qinshi Jiamei Energy Technology.

4. Container sector set to take biggest hit from US plans to charge Chinese-built vessels. 5. Stena Bulk forms Nigerian tanker venture. Swedish shipowner Stena Bulk has signed a deal with NNPC Shipping, part of oil producer Nigerian National Petroleum Corp and local integrated offshore support player Caverton Marine for a new tanker joint venture in Nigeria.

6. NTSB Finds Data Entry Error Led to Cargo Loss on US-Flagged Containership. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) revealed today that a simple data entry error led to the loss of 23 containers and damage to 10 others aboard the U.S-flagged containership President Eisenhower off the California coast.

10. Denmark maintains its psition among the world’s best-performing flag states. Denmark is one of just fourteen flag states—out of a total of 123—that have received “green” indicators for all the criteria used in the assessment, which is published annually by ICS. The table reflects the extent to which flag states comply with international maritime agreements, regulations, and standards.
