1. Lloyd’s Register and ISWAN join forces to put crew wellbeing at the heart of safety in the yacht industry. Lloyd’s Register (LR) and the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) have announced a new Joint Development Project (JDP) aimed at addressing the evolving safety and wellbeing challenges faced by crew members in the superyacht industry.

3. Rondal’s Aero Wing Sail concept receives Lloyd’s Register AiP. Lloyd’s Register (LR) has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) to Rondal for its Aero Wing Sail, following completion of concept-level assessment activities in line with LR’s Guidance Notes on Wind Assisted Propulsion Systems (2025). The AiP was awarded in a ceremony at Metstrade 2025 in Amsterdam.

4. Suspension and Amendments to US and China Port Fees – Current Status. Following the trade summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the United States and China have each suspended their port fees on Chinese- and US-linked vessels, respectively, for a one-year period beginning November 10, 2025. 6. Atlas Maritime revealed as seller in $194m Okeanis suezmax deal. Greek owner Okeanis Eco Tankers disclosed last week that it is expanding its crude fleet with the purchase of two suezmax newbuilding resales. Brokers now reveal the seller as Atlas Maritime, with the vessels identified as Viking Star and North Star.

7. 200 Firefighters Contained Fire Incident on Cargo Ship at Port of Los Angeles. 

Early Friday morning, agencies within the Unified Command coordinated a large-scale effort to undock the ship and escort it from the Port of Los Angeles and out to sea beyond Vincent Thomas Bridge, all while continuing fire suppression and monitoring safety.

9. CMAL Leverages SCHOTTEL’s Modern Propulsion Systems. 

Six of the ferries can accommodate 150 passengers and 24 cars each, while the seventh ferry is designed for up to 250 passengers and 16 cars. The ferries operate emission-free thanks to their battery-electric propulsion system.

10. MPA to Establish Methanol Bunkering in Port of Singapore.
