1. Seabound launches world-first onboard marine carbon capture project with Hartmann, InterMaritime and Heidelberg Materials. Seabound, a UK-based leader in marine carbon capture, has launched a first-of-its-kind onboard carbon capture project in partnership with Hartmann Group, Heidelberg Materials Northern Europe, and InterMaritime Group. The solution equips the UBC Cork, a 5,700 gross tonne (GT) cement-carrying ship owned by Hartmann and managed by InterMaritime, with Seabound’s compact carbon capture system.

2. Greece reveals boundaries of two marine parks in Ionian and Aegean Sea. Greece revealed on Monday the boundaries of two planned marine parks in the Ionian and Aegean Seas, which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said will be the largest in the Mediterranean region.

5. MOL launches global shipmanagement arm. Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is consolidating its shipmanagement businesses under a single brand and location, aiming to streamline operations and enhance service quality across all vessel types.

The Tokyo-headquartered shipping giant has renamed its Singapore-based LNG management arm, MOL LNG Ship Management, to MOL Global Ship Management (MOLGSM).

6. Next Geosolutions takes over subsea contractor Rana. Italy’s Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) has acquired a controlling stake in fellow subsea contractor Rana Subsea, expanding its reach and capabilities in the offshore energy support segment.The Milan-listed company, part of Naples-based Marnavi Group, has agreed to buy 75.4% of Rana Subsea. The shares were acquired from Nettuno Holding (55.8%) and Rana CEO Alessandro Buffa (19.6%). The deal, valued at €36.7m ($43m), is expected to close by September 2025. Buffa will remain in place as CEO.

7. Chinese Icebreaker ‘Xue Long 2’ Operating North of Alaska, Two More En Route to Arctic. China’s first home-built polar icebreaker Xue Long 2 has arrived in the Arctic for its summer 2025 research mission. The vessel departed from Shanghai around two weeks ago on July 5. After passing through the Bering Strait and entering the Chukchi Sea, the icebreaker has now turned east, traveling into the Beaufort Sea to the north of Alaska.

8. Indonesia to Cut Tariffs, on-tariff barriers in US trade deal, Trump official says. Indonesia will drop tariffs to zero on more than 99% of its trade with the United States and will also eliminate all non-tariff barriers for American goods in a deal that cuts threatened U.S. tariffs on Indonesian products to 19% from an initial 32%, a senior Trump administration official said on Tuesday.

10. Steelpaint secures contract with Winning international to protect capesize bulker. Steelpaint GmbH has received its first order from Singapore-based Winning International Group to supply its advanced two-coat polyurethane-zinc coating system for the cargo holds of Winning Kindness, a 184,000dwt capesize bulk carrier.
