4. UK freight association elects new national chair and vice-chair. Keith Baguley has succeeded Charles Hogg as the elected national chair of BIFA – the British International Freight Association – for a two-year period.

5. Japan’s Shinomiya Tanker taps domestic yards for handysize bulker series. Japanese shipowner Shinomiya Tanker has reportedly commissioned three compatriot yards for five handysize bulker newbuildings.
The Tokushima-based company has placed a single 40,000 dwt vessel at Naikai Zosen, with two additional ships each ordered from Imabari Shipbuilding and Hakodate Dockyard at $33m apiece.
