1. Equasis celebrates 25 years of Advancing Maritime Safety and Transparency. 2. Plezia named Port of Long Beach Engineering Managing Director. The Port of Long Beach has promoted Suzanne Plezia, P.E., to Managing Director of Engineering Services to succeed Sean Gamette, P.E., who earlier this spring announced his retirement. Plezia has been the Port’s Senior Director of the Engineering Services Bureau and Chief Harbor Engineer since April 2017.

5. DryDel inks ultramax order in Japan. Greek bulker owner and operator DryDel Shipping is expanding its fleet with an ultramax newbuilding deal in Japan.

The Costas Dellaportas-led company has penned a contract with Nihon Shipyard to see the 64,000 dwt vessel delivered in 2028. Financial terms have not been divulged.

6. COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers seals $310m deal for six heavylift ships. COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers is bringing in six multipurpose heavylift vessels in a deal with Bank of Communications Financial Leasing (BoComm Leasing).The Shanghai-listed unit of COSCO Shipping Group, with a diversified fleet of more than 150 ships, has signed up for 60,000 dwt units built at CSSC-affiliated Chengxi Shipyard.

7. Petrobras launches survey tenders for offshore wind pilot project. Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company Petrobras has launched two tenders for an offshore wind pilot project off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state.One tender is for the acquisition and processing of geophysical data in ultra-shallow waters off São João da Barra. The acquisition, processing, and interpretation services will use electrical tomography, bathymetry, and topography to a depth of around 10 m, across an area of 1.5 sq km.

8. Mexican Fishing Crew Faces First Federal Charges for Illegal Red Snapper Fishing in U.S. Waters. Four Mexican fishermen have pleaded guilty to illegally harvesting red snapper from U.S. waters, marking a significant shift in enforcement policy for marine resource protection.The crew, consisting of Jose Daniel Santiago-Mendoza (22), Miguel Angel Ramirez-Vidal (32), Jesus David Luna-Marquez (20), and Jesus Roberto Morales-Amador (27), admitted to illegally transporting approximately 315 kilograms of red snapper.

9. Fire Continues to Rage on Singapore-Flagged Vessel Off India. A major fire continues to rage aboard the Singapore-registered containership Wan Hai 503 off the coast of India, with four crew members still missing and search efforts intensifying.

The vessel experienced multiple explosions approximately 130 nautical miles northwest of Kochi, India, on Monday. The severity of the situation forced the crew to abandon ship, with 18 of the 22 crew members successfully rescued from lifeboats.

10. Panama Canal Boss Says MSC Ports Deal Threatens Neutrality. The sale of two ports near the Panama Canal to a global consortium led by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) threatens the canal’s principle of neutrality, the canal’s head Ricaurte Vasquez told the Financial Times. „There is a potential risk of capacity concentration if the deal comes the way it is structured as we understand right now,” Vasquez told the FT in a report published on Tuesday.
