8. Taiwan’s Dong Fang Offshore enters European market with DeepOcean charter deal. Taiwanese owner and operator Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) has sealed a deal to charter out one of its construction support vessels to Norwegian ocean services provider DeepOcean.The subsidiary of Hung Hua Construction, with a fleet of 16 vessels including those under construction, has fixed the 2014-built Orient Adventurer from early 2026 until the end of 2027, with extension options secured for up to four additional years.

9. SBM Offshore invests in Blue Power hub developer. Dutch floater expert SBM Offshore has invested in Ocean-Power, a company developing an offshore power hub that generates electricity using gas turbines and carbon capture and storage.

The investment by the company follows a memorandum of understanding between SBM Offshore and the Norwegian company signed in June last year.

10. COSCO seeks to defuse Pentagon spat. COSCO, the world’s largest shipping company, has sought to downplay news carried by Splash yesterday that it has been added to a list of companies the US Department of Defense views as having links to the People’s Liberation Army.

While being on the Pentagon’s blacklist carries no specific penalties, it discourages US firms from dealing with these companies that Washington views as military entities.
