2. Monjasa expands into new offshore US Gulf operations. Global top 10 marine fuels supplier, Monjasa, expands further into the US Gulf, following five years of maritime operations in the Port of Houston.
As part of this new operation, Monjasa has agreed charter terms for the tanker, MT Stenheim (16,626 dwt), with immediate effect.

4. AD Ports Group and Somali Ministry of Fisheries & Blue Economy sign MoU for maritime sector development. 5. Baltic Exchange partners with Moody’s to launch a Know-Your-Customer data platform for the maritime sector. Baltic Exchange has launched a Know-Your-Customer platform to give the maritime sector greater access to company data to support informed decision making and meet increased regulatory obligations.
KYC is a regulatory requirement in the banking and financial services sectors to ensure businesses do their due diligence on customers to prevent fraud, money laundering, and terrorism financing.

6. European Space Agency leads port call optimisation project. The European Space Agency (ESA) has initiated a new project, Decarbonization through the Digitalization in Shipping (DECARDIS), together with optimisation platform company Awake.AI, technology leader ABB and shipping company Wallenius Marine. The consortium, funded by ESA and led by Awake.AI, will collaborate on a port call optimisation solution, which focuses on helping ships cut greenhouse gas emissions by overcoming inefficiencies in the ship-port interaction.

8. Barge involved in Keelung port crane collapse wrecked off Taiwan. The China-registered barge Yu Zhou Qi Hang, which knocked down a quay crane at Keelung Port in Taiwan two weeks ago, lost its ability to navigate due to severe weather and heavy load and was abandoned as a result.

Ocean Network Express (ONE), the world’s sixth-largest ocean carrier by capacity, reported robust financial results for its second quarter of FY2024 (July to September). The company’s revenue soared to $5.9 billion, marking a 65% year-over-year increase. Even more impressive, ONE’s net profit skyrocketed to $2 billion—a staggering 1000% jump from the same period last year.
