1. MISC confirms LNG carrier orders in South Korea. Malaysia’s top shipping line, MISC, has firmed up orders for two LNG carriers in South Korea.
Splash reported in July that MISC had secured newbuilding slots at Samsung Heavy Industries for a brace of 174,000 cu m units in a deal estimated at over $500m.

2. Eversource Energy formally exits offshore wind sector. Utility company Eversource Energy has formally exited the offshore wind sector by wrapping up the sale of its 50% interest in the 132MW South Fork Wind and the 704MW Revolution Wind projects to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

3. Strike commences across US eastern seaboard. Around 45,000 dockworkers at 36 ports stretching from Maine to Texas across America’s eastern seaboard went on strike at midnight in the largest terminal industrial action seen anywhere in the world this century.

4. Houthis strike back following Israel’s port bombings over the weekend. Two ships have been targeted by the Houthis today, the first confirmed strikes on merchant shipping in the Red Sea since the start of September.
The Panama-flagged tanker Cordelia Moon suezmax became the first ship to be targeted by the Houthis in 29 days early this morning.

5. Explosive-Packed Drone Boat Strikes Oil Tanker in Red Sea. An explosive-laden drone boat slammed into an oil tanker as it sailed past the coast of Yemen, a sign Israeli airstrikes haven’t deterred the country’s Houthi militants from attacking commercial shipping.

American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier Group (ARC) has announced the addition of M/V ARC Endeavor to its U.S.-flag fleet.The vessel was reflagged to American registry on September 27th in the Port of Baltimore, Maryland, becoming the tenth U.S.-flag roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessel in ARC’s fleet.

9. IAPH develops its own GHG performance indicator for its Environmental Ship Index (ESI) port incentive scheme for shipowners. This week sees the review, at the eighty-second meeting of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC82), of the IMO’s Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) – notably of its capacity to accurately and reliably evaluate the GHG performance of certain types of ships.
