1. InterManager Elects Sebastian von Hardenberg As President. InterManager, the international association for the ship management sector, has elected Sebastian von Hardenberg as President.

Sebastian is CEO of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) and was elected by members of InterManager’s Executive Committee during the association’s Annual General Meeting in London this week.

An experienced negotiator, he has lobbied on behalf of InterManager members and the ship management sector during his term as Vice President and was instrumental in discussions with the European Union regarding the potential impact of EU-ETS and FuelEU on ship managers.

2. Salvors needed to put Red Sea’s long-term environmental impact first amid Sounion disaster, says Ambipar response. The long-term environmental impact of the Sounion vessel disaster, both of the vessel and the Red Sea, were at the forefront of the critical salvage operation, noted Ambipar Response, the emergency response division of Ambipar Group, who led the spill response and pollution prevention effort for the stricken 164,000 dwt tanker (IMO: 9312145) in August 2024.

4. Coast Guard Foundation hires new regional director in Mid-Atlantic area. Brian Klinzing to Lead the Organization’s Efforts in Washington, D.C.

 The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the Coast Guard community and service by supporting members and families, announced that Brian Klinzing recently joined the Foundation’s fundraising team. In his new position as regional director of philanthropy, he will work closely with Coast Guard units throughout the Mid-Atlantic area to identify and fulfill education, morale and wellness, and emergency disaster and tragedy assistance needs for Coast Guard members and their families.

9. Suez Canal Authority Says Stability Returning To Red Sea.  Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie has told shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk there are signs of stability returning to the Red Sea, and urged the company to take that into account when planning sea routes, according to a statement from the SCA. The statement said Rabie made the comments at a meeting with the CEO of the Danish container shipping group and other senior executives, but did not say when the meeting took place.

10. Norway Releases Ship Suspected Of Baltic Sea Cable Damage. A Norwegian cargo ship with an all-Russian crew suspected of damaging a Baltic Sea telecoms cable has been released by authorities in Norway after no link to the incident was found, the police said late on Friday.
