1. Two confirmed dead in helicopter crash during seafarer rescue attempt off India. Two members of a four-strong crew Indian Coast Guard (ICG) helicopter were found dead after it crash-landed in the Arabian Sea during an attempt to evacuate a member of an India-flagged 46,000-dwt MR tanker Hari Leela.

2. Transocean finds buyer for two rigs worth $342m. Offshore driller Transocean has entered into agreements with a third party to sell two of its rigs for a total of $342m.
The two rigs in question are the Development Driller III and the Discoverer Inspiration. The former and its associated assets will be sold for $195m while the latter will be sold for $147m.

3. MSC secondhand splurge nears 400 ships in four years. Gianluigi Aponte’s Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) has continued to cement itself at the top of liner rankings with additional secondhand tonnage that take the Swiss-based carrier’s purchases in the last four years to nearly 400 ships.

5. SS United States Faces Uncertain Future as Court-Imposed Deadline Approaches. The historic ocean liner SS United States is facing a critical juncture as a September 12 deadline looms for its removal from its current berth in Philadelphia.The U.S. District Court has denied the SS United States Conservancy’s request for a three-month extension, mandating that the organization present a formal agreement to remove the ship from Pier 82 by the specified date.

6. Iran’s port, maritime services increase by 103 percent. Mohammad-Hossein Allameh, the Director General of Planning, Development, and Resource Management at Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), has announced a significant 103 percent growth in maritime and port services. This substantial increase reflects Iran’s ongoing efforts to enhance its maritime Economy through strategic measures. Allameh highlighted that the PMO is deeply engaged in advancing the maritime sector, noting that the container capacity of Iran’s ports has now reached 7.8 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), marking a considerable expansion in the country’s port capabilities.

10. The Bahamas Maritime Authority appoints Türk Loydu as a recognised organisation. The Bahamas Maritime Authority , one of the world’s leading ship registries, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Türk Loydu Uygunluk Değerlendirme Hizmetleri  as a Recognised Organisation.
