1. OSM Thome welcomes new institutional investors. OSM Thome announced that institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Global Transportation Group (“JPMGTG”) will acquire a stake in global ship management company OSM Thome, subject to regulatory approval. The investors will help support the future growth of the business. OSM Thome’s founding shareholders, OSM Maritime Partners (“OSMMP”) and Skagerak Holding (“Skagerak”) will continue as shareholders, resulting in a long-term ownership constellation that ensures both continuity and growth. Existing financial investor, funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (“Oaktree”) will fully exit the business in the transaction.

2. Monjasa set to fuel Japanese shipping from new Tokyo presence. Global oil and shipping group, Monjasa, announces further expansion across Asia with a new permanent office location in Tokyo, Japan.
Monjasa has been a well-established partner to the Asian shipping industry since 2008 with three current offices located in Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai.

3. The Grimaldi Group expands its network to India. The Grimaldi Group is continuing its global expansion by adding India to its maritime network. Starting this month, the company will be offering a regular service with two departures per month from Europe to the Indian subcontinent, further strengthening its presence in the Asian market.

4. Kingdom of Bahrain and APM Terminals sign letter of intent to deepen collaboration at Khalifa Bin Salman Port. APM Terminals is honored to sign the Letter of Intent  this week with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications to deepen the company’s collaboration with Bahrain. The aims of the letter are to more than double the terminal’s throughput by 2030, expand trade flows with Saudi Arabia, and advise on and invest in new growth segments that support Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and beyond.

5. Skuld marine fuels blended with Cashew Nutshell Liquid biofuel. With stringent decarbonisation regulations already in force within the EU/EEA, the European authorities are now focusing on greenhouse gas  emissions from ships sailing in EU/EEA waters and on the GHG intensity of the fuels burnt on board. Once the measures of the 2023 IMO Strategy on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships are adopted, this focus will eventually stretch over a larger geographical area.

6. UK blacklists 40 shadow fleet ships. The UK is imposing a new wave of sanctions against the Russian oil trade, targeting an additional 40 ships.The biggest sanctions package against Russia’s shadow fleet brings the total number of oil tankers sanctioned by the UK to 133—more than any other European nation.

7. Moeve signs up for RFOcean chemical tanker newbuilds. Spanish energy company Moeve has inked a contract with RFOcean for a series of 6,600 dwt chemical tankers currently under construction in China.Frederik Rye-Florentz-led RFOcean, which controls a fleet of 13 chemical tankers on fully-delivered basis, has eight next-generation newbuilds booked at Wuhu Shipyard set to enter the market in 2025 and 2026.

9. Russian Gas Condensate Deliveries to Europe Continue to Fly Under Radar. As Western attention remains focused on Russia’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas shadow fleet, a third type of fuel, gas condensate, continues to flow into Europe without much public scrutiny. 
Russia operates two dedicated ice-capable condensate tankers, Yuriy Kuchiev and Boris Sokolov, for its Yamal LNG project.

10. New Zealand Foreign Minister to Question Chinese Naval Activity in Beijing Visitz. New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters will touch down in Beijing on Tuesday for a three-day visit as relations between the two countries are strained after Chinese Navy vessels conducted live firing exercises in the Tasman Sea.
