1. CMA CGM signs for electric boxship. French liner operator CMA CGM has contracted inland vessels specialist Shandong Xinneng Shipbuilding to build its fully electric containership.
The deal with an undisclosed value follows a letter of intent CMA CGM signed with the yard late last year for the construction of an 80 m long, 182 teu newbuild.

2. ONE boxship collides with Maersk vessel in Hong Kong. On Saturday evening the 364 m long ONE Columba allided with the 6,600 teu Clifford Maersk in Hong Kong port with videos showing a number of containers falling off the Maersk ship.The accident happened as the ONE vessel was proceeding to berth, its bow ramming the starboard bow of the berthed Maersk vessel, with three containers falling overboard, which were subsequently retrieved. The Maersk ship was lightly damaged in the incident at Modern Terminals.

3. Lauritzen Bulkers CEO leaves due to stress. Martin Egvang has stepped down as chief executive officer of Copenhagen-based shipowner and operator Lauritzen Bulkers, citing stress issues.
“I have been experiencing increasing stress-related symptoms, which has reached an unsustainable level, and I have therefore concluded that the right thing for me is to step down as CEO of Lauritzen Bulkers,” Egvang said.

4. Tanker accused of Baltic sabotage allowed to leave Finnish waters. The Finnish authorities said yesterday they have released the Eagle S, a tanker seized in December 2024 over suspicions that it had deliberately cut undersea cables in the Baltic. A criminal investigation into the episode will continue, authorities said.

6. USS Carl Vinson Enters South Korean Port As Show Of Force. The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson arrived at the southern city of Busan in South Korea on Sunday as a show of force, South Korea’s navy said.
The visit was part of the “ironclad” commitment of the United States to extended deterrence and to show readiness by the military alliance between Seoul and Washington against North Korea, according to the navy.

7. Guyana Says Venezuelan Vessel Entered Oil Block In Guyanese Waters. Guyanese President Irfaan Ali said on Saturday that a Venezuelan coast guard patrol entered Guyanese waters earlier in the day, approaching an output vessel in an offshore oil block managed by Exxon Mobil XOM.N.

8. Norway Will Keep Supplying Fuel To US Navy After Company Calls For Boycott. NATO member Norway will continue to supply fuel for U.S. Navy ships, the country’s defense minister said on Sunday, after a call from a private marine fuel supplier to stop doing so in response to the apparent breakdown in U.S.-Ukrainian relations.
“We have seen reports raising concerns about support for U.S. Navy vessels in Norway. This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy,” Norway’s Defence Minister Tore Sandvik said in a statement.

10. ASRY and Abu Dhabi Ship Building sign MoU for shipbuilding projects. The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) in Bahrain has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with EDGE Group entity Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB, a regional leader in the design, construction, repair, maintenance, refit and conversion of naval and commercial vessels. The two entities will work together to build new naval auxiliary vessels and port craft and constitute a joint committee to assess the feasibility of each project.
