1. Paul Pathy of Fednav elected BIMCO President. BIMCO, the world’s largest shipping association, has elected Paul Pathy, President & CEO of Canada’s largest dry bulk shipping company, Fednav, as President. Pathy was elected at the organisation’s general meeting in Copenhagen on Wednesday 14 May 2025.

3. The Supply Chain Management and Maritime Studies Program of Studies signed MoU with Youngship. The Supply Chain Management and Maritime Studies Program of Studies (MIEEK PSM) has formalized its partnership with YoungShip by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). 4. RINA exceeds 900 million in revenues in 2024 and updates its global strategy. The shareholders’ meeting of RINA, a leading global engineering, inspection and certification company, approved the 2024 financial statements, reporting revenues of €915 million and EBITDA of €138 million, up 15% and 22% respectively on the previous year. EBITDA margin improved from 14% to 15%. Net profit rose to €30.4 million, more than doubling from €12.5 million in 2023, while financial leverage decreased further to around 1x.

5. Martin Sato returns as CEO at Lauritzen Bulkers. Denmark’s Lauritzen Bulkers has appointed Martin Sato as its new chief executive.
Sato, who previously spent 18 years at J. Lauritzen’s dry bulk business, will join the Copenhagen-based shipowner and operator by December from fellow handysize bulker player BaltNav, where he has served as CEO since 2024.

6. Norden signs iron ore port logistics deal in Australia. Danish shipping giant Norden has signed its first port logistics project in Australia with Kimberley Metals Group (KMG), a developer and operator of iron ore mining projects.Norden will provide additional assets for the existing transhipment operation, loading iron ore from the port of Wyndham in Western Australia onto barges and ocean-going vessels.

7. MSC invests in Ukrainian inland logistics. Swiss-based Medlog, a growing inland cargo business of the world’s largest liner, Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), has made its entry into Ukrainian logistics.Local media report Medlog has bought 50% of the Ukrainian intermodal logistics operator N’UNIT (New Ukrainian Network of Intermodal Terminals) and a 25% stake in the cross-border terminal Mostyska.

8. Lamprell pens wind installation vessel deal with Dong Fang Offshore. UAE-based fabricator Lamprell has signed a memorandum of understanding with Taiwanese owner and operator Dong Fang Offshore for a newbuild wind turbine installation and maintenance vessel.
The GustoMSC-designed NG-9000X vessel will be built in compliance with Taiwanese shipping law.

9. ZIM Reports Strong Q1 Results Amid Red Sea Crisis, Declares Dividend. Israeli container shipping company ZIM (NYSE: ZIM) reported strong first-quarter results today, with net income more than tripling to $296 million compared to $92 million in the same period last year.

10. First Gulf Coast LNG Bunker Fueling Facility Secures Final Permits for 2027 Start. The Galveston LNG Bunker Port (GLBP) has cleared its final regulatory hurdles after securing crucial permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Coast Guard, setting the stage to become the first dedicated LNG marine bunker port on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
