5. BHP signs charters with COSCO for ammonia-powered newcastlemax newbuilds. BHP has signed five-year charter contracts with COSCO Shipping Bulk for two ammonia dual-fuelled newcastlemax bulk carriers.
The two 210,000 dwt vessels, expected to be delivered from 2028, will primarily transport iron ore from Western Australia to Northeast Asia.

6. Jackup barge sinks in Gulf of Suez, four dead. Four crew members died after a jackup barge owned by Saudi oil and gas driller ADES capsized on Tuesday evening, some 300 km south of the Suez Canal.Egyptian authorities said that the incident happened off Ras Ghareb, located on the African side of the Gulf of Suez, around 130 nautical miles from the southern entrance of the Suez Canal.

7. TS Lines locks in up to 10 newbuilds at Huangpu Wenchong. Taiwan’s TS Lines has bolstered its newbuilding programme through a new deal with a Chinese shipyard, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding. The intra-Asia focused carrier has commissioned five firm and five optional 5,000 teu vessels, each priced at about $62.5m and scheduled for delivery in 2028, according to shipbroking sources.

8. SMT meets industry demands for increased methanol training. Methanol is leading the fight as a cleaner and sustainable alternative marine fuel in the drive to hit IMO net zero targets by 2050, but with some flag states requiring additional teaching over and above the Basic and Advanced IGF courses required under STCW and class, shipowners are demanding higher levels of awareness training for their seafarers.

10. Completion of Yaesu Daibiru Building Heritage and Innovation. DAIBIRU CORPORATION, a group company of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, , is pleased to announce The Yaesu Daibiru Building in Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, which had been under construction, was completed June 30. This building was reconstructed from the former Yaesu Daibiru Building, which was closed at the end of December 2021. Inspired by the desire to carry forward the feeling of affection expressed for the former building, again, the name of the building is the Yaesu Daibiru Building.
