2. DP World and ecitizen join forces to transform customs clearance in Kenya. DP World has signed an agreement with Kenya’s Electronic Citizen Solutions  to roll out its advanced digital customs platform, CARGOES Customs, through the government’s flagship services portal.

3. ABP-backed green methanol project wins Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition. To mark London International Shipping Week, Associated British Ports , the largest port operator in the UK, is celebrating the success of ‘TURBO-METH’, a clean technology project, which has secured funding as part of the Department for Transport’s ‘Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition  6’.

4. Bulker crew stranded in Nigeria without pay for three months. The crew of the 2008-built bulker Eleen Armonia has been stranded in Nigeria for more than three months without receiving salaries.According to an email sent to Splash from a crew representative, many crew contracts have already expired, but the owner of the Liberian-flagged vessel has refused to arrange repatriation or crew change. He also noted that the crew’s mental health is at a critical level.

5. Vogemann linked to six kamsarmaxes at Hengli Heavy. German shipowner Vogemann has reportedly returned to China for another round of bulk carrier newbuildings, with reports linking the Hamburg-based company to a fresh series of kamsarmax orders at Hengli Heavy Industries in Dalian.

6. Asso.subsea contracts trenching support newbuild at China Merchants shipyard. Greek offshore contractor Asso.subsea has signed a deal with China Merchants Heavy Industry’s Shenzhen yard for the construction of a new trenching support vessel (TSV).Named Avra, the vessel, due for delivery at the end of 2027, is being billed as the most powerful purpose-built TSV to date, with 24 MW of installed hybrid power and more than 180 tonnes of bollard pull.

7. Two Salvage Vessels Arrive in Canadian Arctic to Begin Refloating of Grounded ‘Thamesborg’ A tug and an ice-class cargo vessel have arrived in the Canadian Arctic to begin efforts to refloat the Dutch-flagged Thamesborg. The 21,359-dwt vessel has been aground on a shoal along the Northwest Passage since earlier this month.

8. Amogy and A*STAR to Explore Ammonia-Powered Solutions for Singapore. The collaboration between Amogy and A*STAR is expected to include demonstration of ammonia-to-power systems on Jurong Island; joint R&D on advanced ammonia-cracking catalyst technologies; and the development of digital tools and workforce training for system integration and scale-up.

9. Panama Canal to Amend Booking System for LNG Carriers, Increase Energy Shipments. Restrictions on vessel weights because of low water levels prompted LNG tankers to other shipping routes, thus a decline in LNG transits through the canal that reached as high as 73 percent.
