1. The London P&I Club and Stella Maris unite to support seafarers’ wellbeing on World Mental Health Day. To mark World Mental Health Day today, The London P&I Club has funded one full day of Stella Maris’ UK operations, supporting the charity’s work in providing practical, spiritual and emotional support to thousands of seafarers every year who are struggling with stress, loneliness, exhaustion, bullying or exploitation.

3. IMO Secretary General statement on MV Minervagracht. IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez expressed his sorrow over the passing of a seafarer following an attack on the MV Minervagracht in the Gulf of Aden, calling for an end to assaults on international shipping and urging dialogue to resolve tensions.

4. Petrobras hires two more DOF vessels. Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has won two long-term contracts in Brazil with state-owned oil firm Petrobras.

Petrobras hired the 2005-built Skandi Chieftain and the 2009-built Skandi Olympia on a four-year contract. The two contracts have a combined value of approximately $200m.

6. DNV unveils public e-methanol tender portal. DNV has launched what it calls the industry’s first public tender portal for e-methanol procurement in the EU and UK, aiming to help bridge the gap between producers and industrial offtakers as demand for cleaner fuels accelerates.

7. Russia Unveils Plans for First Domestically-Built LNG Carrier to Overcome Sanctions. Blocked from accessing western tech, Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) aims to construct the country’s first ice-class gas carrier. The company presented plans for the LNG carrier at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. Developed for Gazprom’s Baltic Ust-Luga facility, the design could easily be adapted for the needs of other Russian gas companies, including in the Arctic.
