2. Nordic Council backs polar fuels action by governments to cut Arctic Black Carbon Emissions at UN shipping body. The Clean Arctic Alliance today welcomed adoption by the Nordic Council of a resolution on polar fuels  which calls on Nordic governments to create and implement a regulation by the UN shipping body, the International Maritime Organization , that would require the use of cleaner maritime fuels, resulting in lower emissions of black carbon by ships when operating in the Arctic.

3. One in four maritime suppliers flagged for cyber risks. A growing number of maritime suppliers are being flagged for cyber vulnerabilities as shipowners tighten supply-chain due diligence and demand verified ESG and data-security credentials.According to new findings from Achilles Network, more than 28% of maritime parts and service suppliers assessed over the past year were rated as having high or very-high cyber risk.

4. Seatrium offloads PSV duo to Brazilian firm for $60m. Singapore shipyard group Seatrium has decided to sell two of its platform supply vessels for $59.7m.

The vessels will be sold to Brazilian vessel operator Posidonia Shipping and Trading, an unrelated third party.

5. Latsco firms up boxship brace at Huangpu Wenchong. Greece’s Latsco Shipping has firmed up its move into container shipping, exercising options for two additional 1,900 teu vessels at China’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding.According to brokers, the Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis-led owner has confirmed the extra pair, with delivery scheduled for June and August 2028.

6. Russia Pushes ‘Shadow Fleet’ to Limit as LNG Carrier Struggles Through Early Arctic Ice on Northern Sea Route. A Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from the country’s so-called shadow fleet, the Buran, is battling thickening sea ice along the Northern Sea Route, underscoring the risks Moscow faces in keeping Arctic energy exports flowing as winter sets in. The vessel is part of a fleet of tankers operating outside Western insurance and tracking systems after sanctions restricted Russia’s energy exports.

8. Pakistan Eyes 2026 Launch For First Chinese Submarine In $5 Billion Arms Deal. The Pakistan Navy expects its first Chinese-designed submarine to enter active service next year, the country’s top admiral told Chinese state media, bolstering Beijing’s bid to counter regional rival India and project power toward the Middle East.
