3. CMA CGM and AD Ports push ahead with Khalifa port terminal expansion. France’s CMA CGM Group and Abu Dhabi’s AD Ports have agreed to expand their joint container terminal at Khalifa Port, less than a year after the facility opened, driven by stronger-than-expected demand.

4. Transocean secures trio of extensions worth $89m. Transocean has secured new work for one ultra-deepwater drillship and two harsh-environment semisubmersibles, adding about $89m in firm backlog.In Brazil, Petrobras exercised a 90-day option for the Deepwater Mykonos, keeping the drillship on continuous work. The extension is expected to contribute roughly $33m in backlog.

5. Sentinel Marine rebrands as Cyan Sentinel. Aberdeen-based offshore support vessel operator Sentinel Marine has rebranded as Cyan Sentinel, marking its first major step since Singapore’s Cyan Renewables acquired a controlling stake earlier this year year.

6. Eastern Shipbuilding Suspends Work on Coast Guard’s Offshore Patrol Cutter Program. Eastern Shipbuilding Group has announced the suspension of work on the U.S. Coast Guard’s two Offshore Patrol Cutters, citing unsustainable financial pressures and workforce reductions as the company struggles with what CEO Joey D’Isernia described as “significant financial strain caused by the program’s structure and conditions.”

10. MOL donates model of wind challenger-equipped Shofu Maru to IMO. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines,  announced that it presented a model of the coal carrier Shofu Maru-the world’s first vessel equipped with a Wind Challenger hard sail wind propulsion system -to the International Maritime Organization during the Wind Propulsion Reception hosted by the International Windship Association  in London on October 22.
