Scorpio Tankers lines up $300m sale of six ships
New York-listed Scorpio Tankers is offloading six product tankers in a deal worth about $300m, as the owner continues to reshape its fleet and free up capital.
The Emanuele Lauro-led company said it has agreed to sell three LR2s and three MR tankers, all built in 2014, with the transactions expected to close in the second quarter of 2026.
The LR2 trio—STI Park, STI Sloane and STI Madison—has been agreed for a combined $195m, while the MR vessels—STI Aqua, STI Regina and STI Opera—will fetch $105m.
Scorpio said two of the LR2s are debt-free, while STI Madison carries $10.7m outstanding under a revolving credit facility. The three MR tankers had a combined $21.3m of debt tied to the same facility, which was repaid in April.
The sales come as Scorpio continues to fine-tune its exposure across the product tanker segments, with a focus on fleet renewal and balance sheet flexibility.
The Monaco-based company currently owns 87 product tankers, including 32 LR vessels and 41 MR units. It also has a steady pipeline of new tonnage, with four MR newbuilds due for delivery across 2026 and 2027, followed by four LR2s between 2027 and 2029. Two VLCCs are also scheduled to join the fleet in the second half of 2028.
The move follows a similar round of sales earlier this year. In March, the company pocketed around $200m from the disposal of additional MR and LR tonnage.
