UPDATE01: Russian forces reportedly launched a UAV attack on the Ukrainian Navy’s logistics infrastructure at the port of Chornomorsk, Ukraine. Air raid sirens were triggered at 19:46 UTC, and local sources reported five explosions. According to Russia-affiliated media, the attack damaged naval infrastructure related to navigation control and communication management. Uncorroborated sources claimed that five UAVs struck the berths at the entrance of the port bay. A Guinea Bissau-flagged general cargo ship was observed in the area, with her last AIS transmission emitted at 08:46UTC. At the time of writing, no damage to merchant shipping had been reported. Russian forces conducted an overnight Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) attack on the port of Chornomorsk, Ukraine. Ambrey observed footage of Ukrainian air defences engaging targets. The UAVs reportedly targeted and caused damage to port infrastructure. No damage to merchant vessels was reported at the time of writing. Ambrey observed AIS signals of a Guinea-Bissau general cargo vessel approaching Chornomorsk at 09:30 UTC before AIS signals stopped approximately 1NM off the port. No other vessels were observed at or arriving at the port. Ambrey is aware that merchant vessels have been withholding their AIS signals when calling at Ukrainian ports or transiting Ukrainian waters. Ambrey is aware that Russian forces have in the past directly targeted merchant vessels at the port of Chornomorsk under the pretext of targeting vessels delivering weapons to Ukraine.
ADVICE: Vessels conducting Black Sea port calls are advised to conduct comprehensive dynamic voyage threat assessments. The crew is advised to remain within the designated Safe Muster Point (SMP) during UAV attacks on infrastructure. The SMP should be located above the waterline, amidships, and low-down in the superstructure.
