UPDATE01: Ambrey received information that two dhows were attacked by the suspected PAG off Garacad. One dhow was hijacked while the other evaded the PAG. Ambrey understands that PAGs have previously utilised hijacked dhows to attack merchant shipping further off Somalia.
Ambrey received a report indicating that a suspected Pirate Action Group (PAG) had been observed off the coast of Garacad, Puntland, Somalia. At the time of writing, regional naval authorities were investigating.
ADVICE: Ambrey advises merchant vessels to increase vigilance, ensure adherence to BMP, and to engage armed security where possible if the vessel has a permissible freeboard. Vessels should report sightings of any suspicious activity.
