Priority Alert – Europe and the Mediterranean
War risk/Physical damage
Details
Narrative:
UPDATE02: Russian authorities subsequently announced that two vessels and two berths had been damaged during the attack, with the resulting fires covering an area of approximately 1,500m². At the time of writing, “emergency and special services” had been dispatched to the scene. Reportedly, those on board the vessels had been safely evacuated.

UPDATE01: Ukrainian forces conducted an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) attack on the Port of Taman. One merchant vessel was reportedly damaged during the attack. At the time of writing, Russian authorities had stated that a pipeline in the port area had been damaged by falling debris from an intercepted UAV. No casualties were reported. The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed to have intercepted 23 UAVs over the Black Sea, 6 UAVs over Crimea and 3 UAVs over the Sea of Azov. Based on AIS data, Ambrey observed one merchant vessel berthed at the port when the attack took place. However, Ambrey is aware that vessels regularly withhold their AIS when calling at Russian Sea of Azov and Black Sea ports, and that AIS disruptions caused by electronic warfare mask vessel movements. Ambrey is investigating and will provide additional details when available.

ADVICE: Vessels conducting Black Sea port calls are advised to conduct comprehensive dynamic voyage threat assessments. The crew is advised to remain within the designated Safe Muster Point (SMP) during UAV and missile attacks on infrastructure. The SMP should be located above the waterline, amidships, and low down in the superstructure.

Ambrey is aware of an ongoing Ukrainian attack on the Port of Taman, Russia. Ambrey is investigating and will provide additional details when available.
