Narrative:
A German-flagged NGO vessel, SEA-WATCH 5, was reportedly fired upon by the Libyan Coast Guard, approximately 27.6NM northeast of Zuwara, Libya. The incident was reported to have taken place after the NGO vessel had conducted a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation for 90 individuals. At the time of writing, Sea-Watch International reported that Libyan Coast Guard assets remained following the vessel. The NGO vessel was previously fired upon by the Libyan Coast Guard on 25 September 2025. Ambrey is aware that on 4 May, the German Government raised the maritime security alert level for vessels sailing under the German flag in Libyan waters. Ambrey assessed the incident as ongoing and will provide updates when available.

ADVICE: Merchant vessels are advised to report any unusual or suspicious activity.
